ABOUT RHONDA'S RAINBOW

IMG_4068.jpg

It was no surprise to me that I would be drawn to an artistic hobby.   As a third generation hand-crafter, my grandmother had a crochet hook in my hand at a very early age.   She had sewed, knitted & crocheted, long before I was born, at times using it as her primary source of income.  My mother was also an avid knitter & crocheter.  She is still crocheting today,  Donating scads of blankets, scarfs, hats & such to a variety of needy charities.

Although I have learned how to do all of those things, they didn't bring me joy.  As an adult, I tried many other types of crafting.  Wreaths, ornaments, home decor & painted tee shirts to name a few.   I spent many weekends peddling my wares at Street Fairs, Holiday Bazaars & local Craft Markets.

In 2010, I was introduced to beading. Since then, I have taken many classes in most all of the various techniques.   Wire work, chainmaille, viking knit, bead crochet, kumihimo, needle & bead weaving on and off the loom, soutache & polymer clay.  However, my passion is bead embroidery, with a close second being any off the loom bead weaving techniques.

Some items I am currently offering, were created by other designers and beaded by me.  However, I do produce many one of a kind pieces that are unique and beautiful at the same time.  My jewelry can be worn for any occasion,   Whether you are in jeans & a t-shirt or dressed for a formal gathering, I have something for you.

I have designed wedding party jewelry & bridal party gifts, designed made to order wall art, as well as participated in several juried events.

In my next chapter, I'd like to step back from holiday bazaar items & focus on the statement pieces that I truly love to create.  The process of creation, as well as, the finished pieces bring me the joy that I have been looking for.
